Choose the disguise that fits your home screen: calculator, calendar, weather, finance, game, files, geometry, magnifying glass, or utility. iOS switches the app's icon to match, so the vault stops reading as a vault everywhere icons appear. Pick the icon that fits the rest of your home screen: a calculator fits almost any phone, a geometry tool fits a student's.
The people most likely to look are the ones you trust — Pew Research Center found that 75% of people in a relationship have given their partner their phone passcode. A disguised icon means the vault doesn't announce itself in the first place.
Stealth mode with the other features
The disguised icon keeps casual snoopers from finding the app. If someone does open it, the PIN stops them. If they demand you unlock it, the decoy vault shows only what you put there. And if they guess PINs behind your back, intruder alerts photograph them, starting with the third wrong PIN by default.
Common questions
Does the disguised icon change everywhere on iOS?
Yes. When you pick a disguise, iOS swaps the app's icon on the home screen, in the App Library, and in search results, so there's no vault-branded icon left anywhere in day-to-day use.
Does the disguised app actually work as a calculator?
Yes. The calculator disguise opens to a calculator that really does the math. To get into your vault, tap the gear at the top right and enter your PIN on the pad that opens. You never type your code into the calculator itself.
Is stealth mode free?
Yes. Icon disguises, the calculator lock screen and Auto-Lock are all part of the free app. Premium, the optional paid upgrade, adds the decoy vault and intruder alerts.
